Standards Bodies and Associations

 

These organizations are responsible for creating the standards for the core network, transport network, radio access, device and mobile network operator capabilities. They also provide specific network parameters, guidelines and testing forums for the entire mobile industry.

 

Public Safety Organizations

 

These organizations represent some of the major consortia responsible for obtaining the spectrum for Public Safety and helping create common sets of requirements for the Public Safety community.  They continue to be an influential force driving communications for the next generation of First Responders.

Government Organizations

 

The US government has been at the forefront of creating interoperable communications for Public Safety.  The Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce (i.e. NTIA & FirstNet) and the Federal Communications Commission all play important roles in funding, creating and running the Public Safety Broadband Network.

FirstNet Board Meetings and Regional Workshops (Video)

Many of the FirstNet board meetings were recorded on video and now available to the public.  The video sessions took place on February 12th, 2013 (video), April 23rd, 2013 (video), August 13th, 2013 (video), and March 10th, 2014 (video).

In the spring and summer of 2013 FirstNet held six regional workshops.  Each was recorded on video and is available with the associated written material.

California Town Hall Meetings (Video)

 

California has held a series of “town hall meetings” to introduce the concept of a Public Safety Broadband Network (PSBN) and to discuss FirstNet.  Each meeting is located in a different city and focuses on a different aspect of the anticipated solution.
